How to make a massage candle

To prepare a massage candle, we need to prepare a clean container for mixing ingredients, a kitchen scale, a candlestick, a wick and two wooden skewers.

First of all, we measure 150 gr of soy wax into the container.

Soy wax is best used specifically for making massage candles, as it has a low melting point and does not smoke when burned.

Shea butter is very often used in the preparation of natural cosmetics, as it has a beneficial effect on any type of skin. The oil perfectly nourishes, moisturizes the skin, making it velvety and supple.

After that, add Avocado oil - 10 gr.

While our wax and oils are languishing in a water bath, we can begin to prepare the wick.

To do this, you need to lower the wick into melted wax and oils, level it as much as possible and let it harden. Thus, we will get an even wick that will not kink.

active phase

As soon as the wax and oils have dissolved and taken on a homogeneous mass, the container can be removed from the water bath. While our mixture has not frozen, we begin to add our active ingredients.

The first active ingredient will be Vitamin E - 1 drop.

Vitamin E will act as a preservative. Thus, it will significantly extend the shelf life of our candle.

After that, add patchouli essential oil - 10 drops.

Patchouli essential oil is an excellent cosmetic product for skin care. The oil has healing properties and is great for dry, aging and problematic skin.

The last component will be ylang-ylang essential oil - 8 drops.

Massage candles are still a rare guest on the shelves of cosmetic stores and even rarer among those who make their own cosmetics. The phenomenon is unusual and unusual. Not everyone immediately understands how to deal with them. But when they find out, they fall in love with them completely and irrevocably.
The massage candle is a mixture of wax, basic caring oils and essential oils. The method of application is very simple: light a candle and enjoy its aroma for a while. This little aromatherapy session sets you up and prepares you for the next massage session. After 3 minutes, we extinguish the candle and almost immediately you can apply a mixture of oils that have melted around the wick to the skin with massage movements. Depending on which composition of essential oils will be used, candles can be relaxing, invigorating or sensual…
Today we will tell you how to make a massage candle for a cheerful morning, with orange essential oil. Candles according to this recipe will not be as hard as store-bought candles, so you need to keep them closed. For greater hardness, you can add more beeswax or add soy wax to the composition.

Cooking technology:

Let's get started! Prepare the glass for pouring. To do this, we need to install and secure the wick. On sale you can find special metal wick holders, but we will do without them, with improvised means =)
Tie a flat knot at the end of the wick, i.e. knot with a wide base.

Now we need to attach this knot to the bottom of the cup. This can be done with a small amount of melted soap base. You can simply glue it, for example, with glue from a thermal gun. Or you can just light an ordinary candle and attach our bundle to the bottom of the glass with melted paraffin (wax). For clarity, we used candle wax in a contrasting color.

Now is a very important moment. We wind the free end of the wick very carefully and carefully (so as not to tear off the glued base) on a skewer or toothpick. It is this design that will hold the wick in the required vertical position, thereby turning our mixture of oils and wax into a massage candle =) The skewer (toothpick) should have a length that is at least 1-2 cm longer than the diameter of the cup.

We have done half of the work - we have prepared a glass for pouring. It was the turn of prepared oils and waxes. Because wax is more refractory, then we melt it first. Please note: NEVER attempt to melt wax in the microwave! It will be very bad for both you and the stove. And even more so, wax. Therefore - wax is melted only in a water bath!

Add butters to the melted wax - cocoa butter and shea butter. Cocoa butter can be pre-ground. This will shorten the melting time.

Slightly warm up and add liquid oils - olive and almond to the mixture of wax and butters. We mix.

When the mixture cools slightly, we introduce essential oil and vitamin E into it. If we introduce them into a hot mixture, they will lose all their beneficial properties. We mix and get a warm substance, ready for pouring.

And now the exciting moment has come - pour the candle into the mold. Gently, but rather quickly, because the oils begin to cool and there is a danger that they can solidify even before they enter the candlestick glass.

We leave our creation to cool. Take your time, let the candle cool down properly before proceeding to the next procedure. Otherwise, you can accidentally pull out the wick and thereby ruin the whole idea. By the way, you can put it in the refrigerator to cool. Things will go faster!

When the certainty that the candle has completely frozen over overcomes the fear of spoiling your creation, you can take up the scissors. With a confident movement, we cut off the wick at a distance of about 5-6 mm from the surface of the candle. If you leave more, then the candle will "smoke". If it is less, it will be more difficult to set it on fire.

That's all =) Applause! A curtain!
Your first massage candle is ready!
Choose the right music and start the enchanting mystery!

massage candle- one of the varieties of massage tiles, or balm. The massage candle not only fills the air with a wonderful aroma, but is also a luxurious tool for a massage, especially a romantic one. On the eve of the New Year, let's talk about massage candles, what they are, and how to make them yourself - especially since a massage candle is a great gift idea that your girlfriend or loved one will definitely appreciate.

Initially, massage candles appeared in beauty salons specializing in spa treatments. First of all, it is a ritual, fragrant and very relaxing, and then it is body care. By applying warm nourishing oil to the skin, all the senses are involved, and due to the natural aromas of essential oils, a relaxing effect is achieved for the body and soul. And the skin after such a ritual is saturated with nourishing oils and looks smooth and moisturized for a very long time.

What massage candles are

First of all, of course, these are relaxing massage candles - they contain essential oils of lavender, chamomile, mandarin, neroli, that is, they are intended for rest and complete relaxation of the body. Also, massage candles can be tonic, invigorating - with essential oils of ginger, cinnamon, juniper berries and refreshing citruses - they are designed for anti-cellulite procedures for elasticity and slimness of the body.

There are aphrodisiac massage candles - with essential oils of spices (cinnamon, ginger), patchouli, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine absolute - rich, floral thick aromas seem to come from oriental tales and gently envelop the body, creating a special evening mood.

DIY massage candles

Now you can easily make natural massage candles with your own hands, we often publish recipes for massage candles, they are very simple and you can make them yourself. You will see links to recipes at the end of the article, and I will write the basics of the technology for making massage candles.

There are several basic recipes for massage candles:

  • Soy wax candles
  • Oil-based candles with beeswax and stearic acid
  • Candles based on cocoa butter with the addition of other vegetable oils

I don't really like soy wax candles, so I prefer to make massage candles based on vegetable oils and butters, with the addition of wax. Moreover, wax can be added both bee and fragrant flower.

Components for massage candles

You won’t need much of them, mainly vegetable oils, yellow or white beeswax, fragrant floral waxes, stearic acid (it is added to make the candle hard), essential oils, natural dyes - if you want the candles to be colored.

You can also make scented massage candles by adding high quality cosmetic fragrances (not to be confused with soap fragrances), or a combination of essential oils and absolutes.

Recipes for massage candles

Handmade massage candles are a three-in-one pleasure!

Firstly, it's a visual treat - a beautiful candle to light for a romantic dinner, for example.

Secondly, it is the pleasure of a fragrance that you choose by adding an essential oil or fragrance.

Third, it is the pleasure of a massage that can end a romantic dinner - melted wax is perfect for this purpose. Or you can simply apply melted wax on your hands and massage them - in cold winter weather this is especially true. The wax will protect and soften your hands.

What do we need to make a massage candle with our own hands?

We'll need suitable capacity, into which we can pour a candle. It can be various glass or metal jars. porcelain cups, maybe even eggshells - it all depends on your imagination. We recommend glass jars for cream - if you screw the lid on, you will protect the candle from dust, which will inevitably fall on the uncovered surface of the candle. You can use used jars, just wash them well. The remains of the cream can start the oxidation process, this should not be allowed. It is better to use new cream jars.

In addition, we need wax designed for massage candles. In addition to special soy wax for massage candles, you can use ordinary soy wax, rice bran wax, beeswax, flower waxes.

More you will need solid oil (butter) and liquid oil. Most often, natural coconut oil is used, preferably unrefined, cocoa butter, shea butter. From liquid oils, you can use grape seed oil, almond oil, apricot or peach oil.

cook wick with wick holder(you can use push pins) dye(fat soluble only, water soluble not suitable) and fragrance or essential oil. Carefully choose a fragrance - it must be compatible with wax candles. We have US fragrances for sale, all of which are suitable for this purpose. Essential oils need to be tested, they can cause the candle to smoke. Do not use a large amount of dye, so as not to stain the skin during the massage.

Making a massage candle

1. Let's start with the preparation of wax and oil. We measure the amount of waxes and oils required by the recipe (wax, oils and stearic acid for the fourth recipe).

2. Put the mixture in a water bath.

3. At this time, we are preparing containers for the candle:

4. Prepare the wick. We use ordinary pushpins as a wick holder. So you can fix the wick if we need it double (for a large candle diameter):

Or just pinch the tip of the wick with the tip of the button, for example, like this:

We lower the wick into the melted wax, let it cool and then fix the wick with the wick holder in the center of the future candle. You can drop a little melted wax on the bottom of the container so that the wick holds better.

5. Add a dye to the melted wax with oil (you can heat it immediately with the dye, we just have several colors today).

We are waiting for the dye to completely melt (continuing to heat the wax in a water bath):

6. Add fragrance or essential oil. Mix well and fill the candles:

7. That's it, the candles are ready! Very simple and fast, isn't it? We wait for the candles to cool and cut the tip of the wick.

Massage candles have only relatively recently become one of the attributes of a healthy lifestyle. They are included in this category of goods for a reason, because attentive attitude and care for your body is one of the components of well-being and longevity.

Today, both elite beauty salons and private masters successfully use massage candles. Their indisputable advantages are ease of use, compactness and high efficiency, which make it possible to increase the comfort and effectiveness of the procedure.

But such candles have one more advantage: they can be made with your own hands, creating a massage tool that is right for you. Its healing, cosmetic and aromatic qualities will be expressed exactly to the extent that you need.

Massage candle making technique

Everything ingenious is simple: making a massage candle is no exception. You can take any solid vegetable fats or floral waxes as a basis, but it is still better to give preference to soy and cocoa butter. They belong to neutral substances, that is, they are suitable for any type of skin and allow various combinations with other additives.

After melting a piece of oil of the right size in a water bath, add a few drops of aromatics to it. These can be special flower compositions based on plant extracts. Or perfumed fragrances, which can be found in specialized stores. But the best option for aromatizing massage candles is the use of natural essential oils, because such an additive gives not only a delicate aroma, but also useful properties.

Since we are talking about a product that will subsequently be applied to the skin, "coloring" will be redundant. Adding pigments can make a candle more attractive but less functional. After all, it is impossible to say in advance whether colored oil will cause undesirable consequences. For example, pigmentation of the massaged area or dyeing of clothes.

Pour the finished oil into a container in which it will be constantly. It is better that the container is made of natural materials - hardwood, clay, glass - and has a handle. So it will be more convenient to pour the heated oil into the palm of your hand. Do not use plastic, metal or painted containers: depending on the material, when the candle is lit, they can melt, heat up and burn you or contaminate the oil with paint particles.

"Secret Ingredient"

The essential oils added to the massage candle should be selected according to your desires and goals.

  • Ylang-ylang, patchouli, cinnamon, ginger are aphrodisiacs. These oils emphasize and enhance the erotic mood and are an excellent fragrance for candles with a romantic purpose.
  • Jasmine, lavender, rose - relaxing essential oils. Even a foot massage with products flavored with these esters will help relieve fatigue.
  • Citrus fruits are energy in the world of smells. Warming massage before training, bringing yourself into tone after a busy day - everything is within the power of massage candles with the addition of lemon, orange oil, etc.
